A testnet launched in 2023 as the testbed for CIP-1694. Before the Chang hard fork brought governance to mainnet on September 1, 2024, stake pool operators, DReps and developers used SanchoNet to try governance actions, voting and the tooling around them.
SanchoNet is still live at sancho.network and remains the place where governance features arrive first. Its rollout is organized in phases: Phases 1 to 4 (from constitutional actions and committee votes to the full set of governance actions) are live, Phase 5 is in development. Wallet integrations, DRep tooling and committee processes are typically rehearsed here before they are used on mainnet. The network is not incentivized, its test ada has no value.
